This series is a modern reinterpretation inspired by the breastplates worn by Native Americans
and the horseshoes attached to horses during battle.
They were worn as symbols to embolden oneself and engrave pride during rituals and battles.
At WAKAN, we carry on that spirit, crafting rings and bracelets.
The horseshoe motif is adorned with rope detailing,
a popular feature in Indian jewelry, reminiscent of reins.
Instead of nail holes, we’ve engraved diamond-shaped stampwork.
This diamond pattern is a geometric motif in Native American culture
that symbolizes the golden eagle feathers adorning a warbonnet.
It is a testament to courage and honor,
and eagles have been believed to soar high and carry prayers to the heavens.
Beyond being mere adornments,
these pieces are created with respect for the Native Americans who once fought,
and with the hope that they will softly ignite a spark in the hearts of all people
who continue to face daily challenges today.
