In 2021, the Japan Jewelers Association revised Japan's birthstones for the first time in 63 years, creating a buzz.
Approximately 60 years passed from the establishment of birthstones to their revision.
During that time, new gemstones such as Aquaprase, which was newly recognized as a gemstone,
and Amateras-stone, a new mineral discovered within jade, emerged.
It is said that the birthstones were revised in consideration of the many new stones that have appeared in recent years alone.
The 10 additional stones include Bloodstone and Sphene,
which are still generally unfamiliar,
and we are excited about these new gemstones yet to be seen.
The newly established birth month stones are here:
We hope this will be a helpful hint when choosing jewelry,
whether as a gift for that special someone
or as a keepsake for yourself.
