This series is a modern reinterpretation of the Native American breastplate, drawing inspiration from the original.
It was worn as a symbol to inspire and engrave pride in oneself during ceremonies and battles.
At WAKAN, we carry on that spirit, crafting it into rings and necklaces.
Instead of nail holes, we engrave diamond-shaped stamp work.
In Native American culture, this diamond pattern is a geometric design symbolizing the golden eagle feathers adorning a war bonnet.
It is a testament to courage and honor,
and the eagle has been believed to soar high in the sky, carrying prayers to heaven.
Beyond being a mere adornment,
these pieces are created with respect for the Native Americans who once fought,
and with the hope that they will gently ignite a spark in the hearts of all people today who also confront daily challenges as they live their lives.
