A series inspired by the breastplates worn by Native Americans,
reimagined for the modern era.
They were worn at ceremonies and in battle as a symbol to inspire courage
and to bear one's pride upon their chest.
WAKAN carries on that spirit, crafting it into rings and necklaces.
In place of nail holes, diamond-shaped stampwork is engraved.
This diamond pattern is a geometric motif used by Native Americans
to symbolize the golden eagle feathers adorned on war bonnets.
It is a sign of courage and honor,
and the eagle has long been believed to soar high in the sky,
carrying prayers up to the heavens.
Transcending the boundaries of mere adornment,
this piece is created as a tribute to the Native Americans who once fought,
and as a means to gently kindle a flame in the hearts of all who continue to live
while facing the challenges of today.
