This series reimagines the breastplates worn by Native Americans and the horseshoes attached to horses during battle,
drawing inspiration from them to create modern interpretations.
These items were worn during rituals and battles as symbols to uplift oneself and instill pride.
At WAKAN, we carry on that spirit, crafting them into rings and bracelets.
The horseshoe motif features the rope ornamentation popular in Native American jewelry,
evoking the image of reins.
In place of nail holes, rhombus-shaped stampwork is carved.
This rhombus pattern is a geometric pattern in Native American culture that symbolizes the golden eagle feathers adorning the warbonnet.
It is a testament to courage and honor,
and eagles have been believed to soar high in the sky, carrying prayers to heaven.
Beyond being mere adornments,
these pieces are created with respect for the Native Americans who once fought,
and with the hope that they will gently ignite a spark in the hearts of all people who continue to face daily challenges in modern times.
